The Victoria Oxshott announces January/February 2023 programme, including a guest chef series and wine evening
The Victoria, the 3 AA Rosette British pub in the Surrey Hills, is excited to announce its new guest chef series, kicking off in January 2023 with an exciting roster of culinary talent.
Following a successful takeover earlier this year, the kitchen team have invited back Jitin Joshi for a two-night run, taking place on the 18th and 19th January. Jitin – who has worked alongside the likes of Éric Chavot, Jason Atherton and Atul Kochha during his illustrious career and is behind the solo project Rogan Joshi – has created a vegetarian tasting menu for the occasion.
The menu will showcase dishes inspired by various parts of the Indian sub-continent and Jitin’s travels across the globe. Guests can expect bold and playful Indian flavours and a spotlight on local, seasonal produce.
The following month, on 9th February, The Victoria is set to welcome independent wine consultant Demetri MS to host an intimate Oldenburg tasting. The evening will see Demetri share some expert insight into the Oldenburg Vineyards located just outside Stellenbosch in South Africa.
The vineyard is known for its sustainable and low-intervention practices and its unique location benefits from the union of the 8 natural elements, allowing the team to produce wines that reflect their origins. Guests will be able to taste and savour a selection of Oldenburg wines, known for showcasing the diversity of the vineyards, soils and microclimate.
The Victoria has had a whirlwind 12 months since opening in 2021, setting a new bar for what a gastropub should be. The neighbourhood pub from Simon King (Igniting Hospitality and formerly Operations Director for the Gordon Ramsay Group, Fat Duck Group and Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group) and Matt Larcombe (former Head Chef of The Crown at Bray, Fat Duck Group) was recently awarded 3AA rosettes, received fantastic reviews from restaurant critics William Sitwell and Grace Dent, has been rated in the Good Food Guide and has been shortlisted for Front of House Team of the Year in the prestigious Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub Awards.
