Our story

About Us

Welcome to The Victoria Oxshott, a newly opened neighbourhood pub from Matt Larcombe, former head chef of The Crown at Bray, and Simon King of Igniting Hospitality. For our close-knit family team, a pub has always been the heart of a community and we can’t wait to meet all the Oxshott locals and those visiting us from further afield.

Located in picturesque Oxshott, Surrey, just a stone’s throw from London and boasting extensive countryside, Simon and Matt are working together to relaunch the Victoria as a community pub, offering an exceptional experience and a menu of elevated British classics.

Our stellar team of experienced chefs and managers, who have worked with the likes of Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsay, JKS and Danny Meyer’s Union Square Group in New York, have come together to offer an excellent guest experience which puts fun at the heart. Matt and Simon’s unique commitment to exceptional food and service creates an environment that guests will want to return to time and time again.

The Menu

Our menu follows a traditional pub format with three course options as well as sharing boards and snacks. It’s hard to choose, but our favourite dishes would definitely include the beer battered native oysters with seaweed mayonnaise for starters, followed by free range heritage pork chop, smoked hispi cabbage, mashed potato with roast pork sauce for mains. We’re serious about dessert too, and the one to try has to be Matt’s Valrhona chocolate parfait with baked white chocolate, olive oil and milk ice cream, paired with a rich and luscious cherry Montecappone Vino e Visciole NV.

The Wine

The wine list has been curated by sommelier Michael Engelmann, previously of The Modern in New York and Rockpool in Sydney. Featuring old and new world selections, Michael intends to showcase small but quality lesser-known wine producers and up and coming stars of the future.

The Bar

The cocktail list blends classic and signature cocktails and features seasonally driven, fresh and enticing ingredients which focuses on twisting the traditional. Think a Mezcal Paloma, with the addition of smoky mezcal and honey syrup and their take on a gimlet, which benefits from the addition of aromatic lemongrass and a hint of chilli to lift the gin.

The Pub

The pub’s redesign looks to revitalise existing features, while also providing a reworking that creates flexibility of functionality. The open bar has space for passersby to stop for a drink and bite to eat. Other spaces for dining include the Drawing Room, Parlour and Dining Room. The Parlour area boasts cosy banquette seating, spilling over from the bar area, with the Dining and Drawing rooms having plenty of space for diners to enjoy a long leisurely lunch or dinner.

The pub’s two private dining rooms accommodate six or eight people, seated around a large central table. Simon, Matt and the team are eager to work with guests to create a bespoke dining experience which suits the occasion and offers a truly personal touch. For ease and simplicity, the team is also able to offer the a la carte menu. Outside, an expansive and luscious pub garden awaits revellers who want to soak up the sun and make the most of alfresco dining opportunities.
